9 Nov, 2010 By: Landscape Management Staff LM Direct!HERNDON, VA — The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) is pleased to announce the recipient of the 2010 PLANET Promise Award: William Hildebolt, Ph.D., Landscape Industry Certified Manager & Technician, of Nature’s Select, Winston Salem, NC. The award was presented to Hildebolt at the recent PLANET Green Industry Conference Awards Presentation Oct. 29 in Louisville, KY.
The PLANET Promise Award recognizes exemplary industry participation and involvement by members in the delivery of the five goals of the PLANET Promise:
- Deliver unparalleled value to PLANET members.
- Grow the GIreen ndustry workforce.
- Expand PLANET’s position as the partner of choice.
- Advance marketplace recognition.
- Influence through proactive advocacy.
Hildebolt has been able to deliver on all promises through his dedication to the Green Industry and association with his involvement with PLANET. The association says he has always placed a huge emphasis on professionalism within the industry and has continued to believe the association needs to maintain its focus on providing the tools and resources necessary to continue to raise the level of professionalism among members and within the entire Green Industry.
“I am very honored and humbled to receive The PLANET Promise Award,” Hildebolt says. “Through my PLANET membership, I have gained much more than I have given, and the PLANET Promises have certainly enriched my professional and business career.”
In other news, PLANET also announced the debut of a new publication at the GIC, The Professional Entrepreneur: When Cowboys Grow Up, written by Hildebolt.
In The Professional Entrepreneur, Hildebolt brings not only his personal experience from years spent in the corporate world and running his own company, but also the stories of many of the top entrepreneurs from across the multibillion-dollar landscaping and lawn care industry.
The association says the book is a celebration of the Green Industry and the people who make a difference in the quality of lives in the communities they serve. It contains anecdotes about how to become a professional entrepreneur.
“Hildebolt succeeds in exploring and defining what entrepreneurs have in common with depth and understanding. His combined experience in the corporate world and as a leader in the (real) Green Industry gives him a unique perspective,” says Richard Heller, Landscape Industry Certified Manager & Technician, president of Greener By Designs, Inc. “The way he synthesizes this with the example ‘propreneurs’ in the book is educational and enlightening in that he illustrates not only how the typical entrepreneur starts and creates a successful business in various elements of the industry, but also how ‘propreneurs’ can harness the resources of larger institutions and break new ground.”
All proceeds from this book will go directly to PLANET’s Academic Excellence Foundation (PLANET AEF). The PLANET AEF scholarship fund was formed in 1998 to award scholarships and fund educational activities for the green industry. Promoting and advancing the lawn care and landscape services industry by supporting academic excellence is the Foundation’s mission. To fulfill its mission, the PLANET AEF relies on tax-deductible donations and long-term pledges from individuals, corporations, organizations, and estates. Since its inception, the PLANET AEF has provided more than $500,000 in scholarship funds to 511 students.
