WEST LAFAYETTE, IN — Purdue University's Plant Pest and Diagnostic Lab recently launched a new interactive, self-guided, online Turfgrass Identification Tool.
The site identifies and details most lawn and fine turf grasses, and the university plans to add more niche species in the future.
Site features include an anatomy and morphology section which includes black and white diagrams and color photos; a turfgrass identification section that walks the user through the steps of identifying an unknown sample; 360-degree, rotating images of major species like Kentucky bluegrass and zoysiagrass; and a detailed search engine.
