Replica baseball complex seen as boon to Chicago-area community
7 Aug, 2009 Athletic Turf NewsROMEOVILLE, IL — This village near Chicago could soon be sporting smaller versions of baseball fields modeled after those played by the MLB White Sox, New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Houston Astros.
The concept plan for the $4 million complex was recently presented to the village board here. It would be built under a joint deal between the village, Lewis University and ML&B partnership, made up of Larry Gould, part owner of the Chicago White Sox and the United Center; Roger Bossard, White Sox head groundskeeper; and Mike Moysis, general manager of baseball operations for the Chicago White Sox Academy, according to an article in the Joliet Herald News.
In addition to the five replica fields, there will also be a championship field, rest rooms, concession stands, and a park area with a fountain and water feature for children.
