USL reaffirms partnership with Sprinturf
18 Jan, 2009 Athletic Turf NewsTAMPA, FL – Heading into its fourth year of the deal, United Soccer Leagues and Sprinturf reaffirmed their partnership that makes Sprinturf an Official Supplier and the Official Turf Supplier of United Soccer Leagues.
USL’s Northern Virginia Majestics (W-League) and Royals (PDL), along with their local youth club affiliate, the Northern Virginia Soccer Club, are the latest organizations to contract with Sprinturf. Sprinturf created the field at George Hellwig Memorial Park in Prince William County, VA. The field was tested early by Hurricane Hannah’s seven inches of rain, but the following morning play began on the Sprinturf field and continued the entire day unabated.
"We used the field for PDL and Super Y-League tryouts throughout forecasts of a wintry mix of rain and sleet," said Majestics owner Tim Schweitzer. "The weather turned out milder than expected, but we never once had to consider rescheduling or postponing. One of our largest obstacles over the years for our program was never having that reliance of available fields or facilities. With construction of lights to occur imminently, Hellwig will provide up to 14-15 hours a day of usage year round, which is important for the Northern Virginia Soccer Club (NVSC) - the youth league component of our program. NVSC utilizes the field for its travel and recreational league play for all age groups."
