Vandals start fire on synthetic turf field

STAMFORD, CT – What is it about synthetic turf playing fields that encourages vandals to damage them?

Wednesday, June 16, someone started a fire with several old tires and small tree limbs near the sidelines at the 50-yard-line at Westhill High School here. The fire, which custodians attacked with fire extinguishers, damaged a small patch of the turf. Investigators also discovered the word “Trinity” spray-painted on the field near the fire.
