COLUMBUS, OH -- June 13, 2002 -- Matt Williams and Doug Gallant, graduates
of The Ohio State
University Sports Turf Program, have posted an illustrated guide to
blade sharpening on the Sports Notes site.
The authors say a high school baseball coach and field manager asked
for their help, thinking his turf was damaged by red thread. After observing
a white coloration in the outfield, Gallant and Williams decided the major
problem was dull mower blades. The grass was torn rather than cut.
The step-by-step how-to includes color pictures.
Williams and Gallant are with the Cincinnati Reds Cinergy
Field (formerly Cincinnati's Riverfront Stadium).

1996 as a labor of love and is still maintained by its cofounders, Corey
Suppes and Paul Munsey,
