WILMINGTON, DE – DuPont Professional Products recently announced that the granular formulation of its DuPont Acelepryn insecticide has been registered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). With just one early application of Acelepryn, turf professionals can control all 10 key turf-damaging white grub species plus surface-feeding insects such as cutworms, webworms, annual bluegrass weevils and billbugs. With the EPA registration complete for Acelepryn granular insecticide, DuPont expects the majority of state registrations to be complete by early 2009 — just in time for the early spring application season.

Acelepryn is designed to control white grubs and other turf-damaging pests on a wide range of sites such as residential and commercial lawns, public turf sites including golf courses, athletic fields, parks and playgrounds as well as landscape ornamentals — including trees, shrubs, flower, foliage plants and groundcovers. Acelepryn uses an entirely unique class of chemistry with a novel mode of action, and active ingredient that has been classified as EPA Reduced Risk for turf applications. Acelepryn also has a low impact on non-target organisms such as beneficial arthropods as well as bees, birds, fish and mammals, and has the lowest water solubility of any white grub control product.
“As turf professionals have learned, there are many benefits to Acelepryn. It allows professionals to save money by controlling multiple pests with a single, early application — eliminating subsequent treatments,” said Mike McDermott, global business leader for DuPont Professional Products. “Acelepryn has a low impact on non-target organisms, and its EPA reduced-risk classified active ingredient has the lowest water solubility of any white grub control product on the market. It’s no wonder that the market interest in Acelepryn is so high. We’re planning to respond to that interest by launching Acelepryn combined with fertilizer in spring 2009.”
The launch of Acelepryn granular insecticide continues DuPont’s ongoing commitment to develop products that are highly efficacious and with improved environmental properties. Its active ingredient, DuPont Calteryx is a new class of chemistry inspired by a natural substance found in the bark of trees and shrubs of the genus Ryania.
