STC releases guide for high school athletic directors
8 Apr, 2009 By: Rick Doyle, Synthetic Turf Council Athletic Turf NewsThe Synthetic Turf Council has interviewed high school athletic directors across the country, and many have said that bringing a synthetic turf field to their high school was a dream come true. For most of them, the biggest obstacles proved to be raising money and getting community support.
In an effort to assist high school athletic directors, the STC created Reaching the Finish Line – An Athletic Director’s Guide to Making a Synthetic Turf Field a Reality. This "how to" guide includes educational materials, fundraising ideas, tips on gaining community support and overall recommendations for bringing a synthetic turf field to a school. Whether an athletic director is at the very first stage of getting a field approved or ready to hire an experienced design professional or consultant, this informational packet will help throughout the entire process.
These state-of-the-art synthetic turf fields are changing the way the game is played for many high schools. They’re providing a safe playing surface, more playing time and reduced maintenance costs. We know many administrators are interested in bringing a synthetic turf field to their school, but aren’t sure where to begin. Reaching the Finish Line will guide them step by step.
For more information, please download Reaching the Finish Line and the accompanying PowerPoint, which athletic directors may personalize and use. Both are available at www.syntheticturfcouncil.org.
As the objective resource in assisting buyers and end users with the selection, use, and maintenance of synthetic turf systems in sports field, golf, municipal parks, airports, residential and landscape applications, the STC hopes this informational guide is a great benefit to high school athletic directors and brings them one step closer to providing their school and community with a safe and always playable synthetic turf sports field.
