'09 ASIC Conference to focus on economy, environment

27 Jan, 2009 LM Direct!

The American Society of Irrigation Consultants (ASIC) has custom-designed a vital irrigation business conference this May 2-4, 2009, to guide practitioners on three critical fronts – the economy, the environment and politics. Each of these arenas will have a dramatic effect on how irrigation practitioners develop, maintain and sustain clients and projects in these volatile times.

The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village in St. Augustine, FL, will host the conference focused on building your irrigation business around current and future economic trends, with Keynote Speaker Alan Beaulieu, senior analyst, economist and principal with the Institute for Trend Research. Joining Beaulieu will be Barbara Moore with Lennar Homes, a national home builder

Environmental issues like climate change, turfgrass trends with Dr. Gil Landry, green roof development, and others will be dissected. And political matters involving ASLA's Sustainable Site Initiative, LEED Updates, water agency conservation initiatives and more will be explored in detail.

In addition to these topical offerings, ASIC's annual conference will be loaded with industry news, technical presentations, open forums, new projects, new product applications, tabletop displays, strong networking opportunities and more.

St. Augustine, FL, the nation's oldest city, is known for its historic district, with its cobblestone streets, quaint cafes, bars, unique shops and significant landmarks. The Southeast's "Ancient City" is located between northeast and central-east Florida and is convenient to Jacksonville, Orlando, and Daytona airports.

The World Golf Village is home to an IMAX Theater, golf shops and outlets, and the World Golf Hall of Fame, with amazing exhibits and features that include:

— History of the Open Championship

— Recent Inductee Galleries

— Golf Play Simulators

— The “Old Putting Green” Simulator

— The Swilcan Burn Bridge St. Andres Replica

— The Trophy Room

— The Member Locker Room
