New England-based Toxics Action Center is keeping TruGreen -ChemLawn square in its anti-pesticides bullseye. The activist organization in mid November targeted the Manatee-Sarasota area with its anti-pesticide campaign, distributing more than 300 leaflets in several communities there and bombarding the TruGreen office with protest calls.

The activist group has staged similar protests in other parts of the country, including Raleigh, NC, earlier this fall.  It is apparently targeting TruGreen -ChemLawn because it is the largest lawn application company in the United States with annual revenues exceeding $1 billion.

It is not evident how much support the activist group is getting from the lawn care customers, apparently not a lot, according to news reports of its activities. Even so, it's vowed to continue its anti-pesticide crusade.

An article in the "Herald Tribune" newspaper tells how TruGreen ChemLawn responded to the protests.
