July is Smart Irrigation Month
14 Jun, 2006 LM Week in ReviewFALLS CHURCH, VA The Irrigation Association (IA) will celebrate Smart Irrigation Month in July to raise awareness of the importance of using irrigation efficiently.
"While the irrigation industry is bringing increasingly efficient technology to the marketplace, irrigation consumers have an important role in choosing efficient technology and using it effectively," said IA Executive Director Tom Kimmell. "Smart Irrigation Month is a way for the industry to highlight irrigation equipment and practices that make the most of our most precious resource."
IA members in every segment of the industry will be asked to display the Smart Irrigation Month logo and share tips for efficient irrigation with their customers in July while highlighting products and services that promote efficient irrigation.
The Irrigation Association's Turf and Landscape Irrigation Best Management Practices recognize that an efficient automatic irrigation system requires quality parts and design, accurate installation, proper maintenance and effective management.
The IA also announced some details of the next International Irrigation Show in San Antonio Nov. 5-7, 2006. Irrigation classes for working professionals and Certification exams offered Nov. 2-7. On Nov. 4, there will be a number of behind-the-scenes tours. All of the Irrigation Association's courses will be offered in conjunction with the show. New audit guidelines will be unveiled in the Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor class.The SMART Technologies for Landscape Irrigation Management course, introduced at last year's show, will examine the nuts and bolts of choosing, installing and using smart technology, which is increasingly requested and even required in many communities.
