BroadStar Herbicide now labeled for landscape use
15 Mar, 2010 LM Direct!WALNUT CREEK, CA — Valent Professional Products has announced that BroadStar Herbicide is now labeled for use in landscapes, giving landscapers and lawn care operators (LCOs) an effective new option for pre-emergence weed control.
Providing long-lasting pre-emergence control of annual grass and broadleaf weeds in ornamental shrubs, trees, ground covers, non-bearing fruit/nut trees and vines, and bareground non-crop settings, BroadStar controls a broad spectrum of weeds including groundsel, chickweed, spurge, dandelion, crabgrass, goosegrass and many more.
Applied as a granule to clean, weed-free soil, mulch or gravel surfaces, BroadStar consistently provides three months or more of residual control of grass and broadleaf weeds — and eight-plus months when applied in the fall to these settings, thus reducing applications and saving time and money.
As a granular formulation featuring the active ingredient flumioxazin, BroadStar is dust-free, odorless, doesn’t stain and is not volatile against high-value, non-target crops. Additionally, BroadStar has a low water solubility. It binds tightly to organic matter in soil, gravel and mulch beds, which reduces the risk of off-site runoff and displays excellent safety when applied next to turfgrass.
BroadStar complements the already-available SureGuard Herbicide, a sprayable formulation of flumioxazin. SureGuard increases the speed and spectrum of activity of glyphosate while providing long-lasting, residual weed control.
Currently, SureGuard is labeled for use in landscapes in all states and BroadStar is registered for use in all states except New York. For more information, visit www.valentpro.com.
