Help Celebrate USGBC's 15th Anniversary
30 Jun, 2008 By: Landscape Management Staff LDB SolutionsThe 15,000 members of the U.S. Green Building Council are celebrating the organization's 15th anniversary.
"It is a celebration of all the gains made across the green building industry — products that have become mainstream, top news-makers over the years, and once innovative processes that are now considered basic," according to the Council.
USGBC is creating a Web site that will recognize all the accomplishments of its past — from the irreversible transformative moments to lighthearted looks at "the old days." It is creating "lists of 15" to recognize how far the building industry has come and to help motivate the industry toward the future. If you have a memory you'd like to share about the past 15 years, please send it to USGBCturns15@usgbc.org.
The Council is collecting ideas, stories, and submittals for the following lists:
- 15 green building practices that are common today that didn't exist 15 years ago
- 15 now mainstream products used in green buildings that didn't exist in 1993
- 15 biggest technology breakthroughs of the last 15 years
Please send 1-15 items for a list or no more than 200 words per story, plus contact information, to USGBCturns15@usgbc.org.
The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a non-profit organization committed to expanding sustainable building practices. Driving its mission to transform the built environment is the Council’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) green building certification system. LEED is a third-party certification program and the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. The LEED program is being used as a template for the landscape industry's Sustainable Sites Initiative.
