July is Smart Irrigation Month

18 Jun, 2009 LDB Solutions

The Irrigation Association will celebrate Smart Irrigation Month in July to raise awareness about the benefits of using smart irrigation practices and products. IA members and industry professionals in every segment of the irrigation community have used Smart Irrigation Month as an opportunity to promote efficient irrigation practices, technologies and methods.

Smart Irrigation Month is an opportunity to let homeowners and consumers know that this industry-wide effort to increase public awareness of water-use efficiency is imperative to the future of our water supply. Irrigation companies and professionals throughout the industry support Smart Irrigation Month by providing solutions to today's water challenges and by acting as leaders in water conservation.

By displaying the Smart Irrigation Month logo, IA members are part of an industry-wide effort to promote efficient irrigation. In addition to using the logo, IA members promote efficient water-use by highlighting the latest innovations in irrigation technology. IA certified professionals help homeowners and other water users save water and money by installing systems that best meet clients' needs.

Smart Irrigation Month is also a good time to make plans to attend irrigation conferences where you can see new smart irrigation products first hand.

An array of high-profile private- and public-sector organizations, including many household names in the United States and abroad, have lent their support to the second WaterSmart Innovations Conference and Exposition, slated for Oct. 7-9, 2009, in Las Vegas.

Presented by the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) in conjunction with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) WaterSense Program and the American Water Works Association (AWWA), WaterSmart Innovations is said to be the largest and most comprehensive conference of its kind in the world.

Other major organizations supporting WaterSmart Innovations are the Alliance for Water Efficiency, Audubon International, GreenPlumbers USA, International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials, International Center for Water Technology, Irrigation Association and California Urban Water Conservation Council. The partnering organizations have a combined 72,000 members.

The 2009 Irrigation Show, the annual trade show of the Irrigation Association, will be held Dec. 2-4 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio. The show offers irrigation professionals an opportunity to connect with industry peers and learn strategies and skills to improve their bottom line.

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, the show schedule will vary from years past. Education classes will run from Tuesday, Dec. 1, to Saturday, Dec. 5. Certification exams will be offered from Wednesday, Dec. 2, through Sunday, Dec. 6.

This year’s schedule will offer attendees a chance to experience more aspects of the show. IA will not offer classes on Thursday, Dec. 3, to allow attendees a full day to walk the show floor and attend the general session. The show will feature exhibitors from all aspects of the irrigation industry displaying the latest in irrigation technology.

In addition to exhibitor booths, show highlights will include IA’s annual New Product Contest, a Smart Irrigation Month idea gallery, the IA bookstore, and common interest group and committee meetings. Held concurrently with the show, the Innovations in Irrigation Technical Conference will feature presentations in three tracks: turf/landscape, agriculture and water management.

Full registration for the 2009 Irrigation Show includes access to all three days of exhibition, the Innovations in Irrigation Conference, and general session. Irrigation professionals that sign up for classes or exams will receive a complimentary "Exhibition Only" pass to the expo floor.
