Southeast Ornamental: Abelia Raspberry Profusion
16 Dec, 2008 By: Landscape Management Staff Get Growing
This proprietary selection is a cross between Edward Goucher and Abelia chinensis, but is earlier to flower than many other Abelias. It grows into a dense, compact, mounded shrub once established in the landscape. During summer, plants are covered with medium- to dark-green glossy foliage. Raspberry Profusion is deciduous in the winter months and a heavy bloomer throughout summer and autumn. The fragrant, raspberry-pink clusters start to appear in mid-Spring and practically cover the plant by mid-summer. Raspberry Profusion prefers full sun to reach its maximum mature height and width of 4 ft. It is hardy to 0°F. (Ball Horticulture)
