12 Sep, 2003 By: Landscape Management Staff LM Week in ReviewColumbus, OH Last spring, the Sports Turf Managers Association endorsed a field study of athletic field grasses established at the Ohio State University. OSU sports turf experts Pam Sherratt and Dr. John Street recently published initial data from the study which assesses establishment rate and wear tolerance on native soils (silt clay loam).
The report includes photos of the test plots which are rated for quality on a scale of 1 to 9, with ratings below 6 considered unacceptable. The study covers dozens of cultivars including tall fescue, perennial ryegrass, Kentucky bluegrass and blends.
