RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC — Ronstar herbicide now may be used on residential landscapes for preemergent control of annual broadleaf and annual grassy weeds. The label revision was recently approved by the EPA, announced Bayer Environmental Science.

Ronstar is available as wettable powder, flowable or granular formulations, and on numerous fertilizer plus herbicide formulated products.

For use on residential landscapes, the label revision allows two applications of Ronstar at the rate of 4 lbs. active ingredient per acre. A maximum of 8 lbs. per acre per year is allowed. Ronstar may be used around a wide variety of ornamental and landscape plants, including arborvitae, maple, crabapple, crape myrtle, dogwood, forsythia, sedum, azalea and spruce. The product now may be used in both residential and commercial landscapes.

“The label revision stipulates that Ronstar must be watered in before re-entry to the treated area,” said Ben Cicora, herbicide business manager for Bayer Environmental Science. “The product provides long residual preemergent weed control and does not harm plant roots.”
