President Bush says "Fire this Sucker Up," and wheels around on a Wright Stander
When is the last time that a U.S. president visited a facility that manufactures commercial lawn mowers to urge action on economic policy? Or stepped onto a professional mower within a facility and says, “Fire this sucker up!" Maybe never before? Well, according to the Baltimore Sun, it happened. On Friday, Jan. 18, President George W. Bush took a jaunt to Frederick, MD, to visit Wright Manufacturing Inc., maker of the popular Stander brand of mowers. The President used the manufacturing plant as a backdrop to emphasis his call to Congress to rush one-time rebates to taxpayers and tax incentives to businesses to get the nation’s economy back on track. He lauded company owner and founder Bill Wright for his entrepreneurial spirit, and pointed to the company as the type of company that can use the economic stimulus to invest in new technology.
