Their time has come except that it actually arrived decades ago. It’s just that many of us are just now recognizing the significance of what they do.

Durham-based Sustainable Building Solutions installed the 3,000-gallon system and the recent rainfall was the first use of the new product, which will be used to irrigate the landscape.

“Texas irrigators will have to do away with ‘comfort zone’ installations, and ensure proper head spacing, uniformity, and pressure requirements are met,” said Jeffrey Knight, education manager for Ewing Irrigation and a Texas Licensed Irrigator. “Irrigators can no longer cut corners. There will be a new system for checks and balances for our industry.”

Aquascape plans to officially launch the new system later this year and will provide rain water harvesting training across the country.

The American Society of Irrigation Consultants (ASIC) will host its National Spring 2008 Conference May 17-19 at the Napa Embassy Suites Hotel & Conference Center in Northern California.
