Turfco TriWave 60-in. Overseeder
27 Apr, 2007 By: Landscape Management Staff Athletic Turf NewsTurfco Manufacturing has increased the versatility of its innovative TriWave 60-Inch Overseeder with a new Power Take Off (PTO) shaft that allows the unit to more easily be mounted to tractors without the need to trim the shaft. The TriWave 60-inch also received a new patent-pending top hitch link that allows the machine to better track the ground contour.
First introduced during the 2006 season after more than three years in development, the TriWave 60-Inch is new type of overseeder designed to significantly increase the success of overseeding operations, especially on contoured terrain.
According to Turfco, the TriWave 60-Inch Overseeder was designed to address the problems golf course superintendents have traditionally faced with the overseeding process.
To overcome the shortcomings inherent in existing overseeder designs, Turfco developed three major technological advancements that contribute to improved seed germination and minimal disruption to existing turf.
First, Turfco set the blade spacing at 1 1⁄2-in. to deliver greater seed density. Blades are mounted on three, 18-inch wide, patent-pending independent floating seed heads capable of precisely following the ground contour, even in uneven terrain, for unbeatable consistency in seed placement depth. Because the seed heads move independently of one another, the TriWave won't miss the low spots and won't destroy high areas, or unmarked items such as sprinkler heads.
The TriWave 60-Inch Overseeder features Turfco's patent-pending WaveBlade technology and a new patent-pending seed delivery system to addresses its customers' needs for more effective seed placement with reduced turf damage. WaveBlade technology utilizes powered, counter-rotating blades to create optimum clean slits for improved seed-to-soil contact while minimizing turf disruption. The seed delivery system places seeds directly into slits without waste for increased germination.
Additionally, Turfco's patent-pending infinite depth adjustment allows easy adjustment of seed depth on-site, without tools, to meet the needs of current thatch or turf conditions.
