Black petunias may be popular with clients this year
17 Feb, 2011 LDB SolutionsMedia reports on Ball's black petunias generate consumer interest.
Since launching Black Velvet and its companion petunias Phantom and Pinstripe at Spring Trials in 2010, consumer media interest has built around these varieties bred by Ball FloraPlant.
Phantom is featured on Garden Gate magazine’s April issue. It was also featured in February's Midwest Living and will appear in the April Better Homes & Gardens issue.
Black Velvet has been showcased in January's Birds & Blooms, several State-by-State Gardening publications and The American Gardener.
“The uniqueness of Black Velvet, Phantom and Pinstripe, along with the media interest we’ve had and expect to continue, assures these plants will receive a high amount of consumer demand this spring and through to fall,” says Monique Hakkert, product marketing manager for Ball FloraPlant. “We’re encouraging our customers to ride this wave of interest and impact their sales now.”
