Lucia Dark Blue Lobelia has blue flowers that attract birds and butterflies. It has better heat tolerance than older varieties, according to Proven Winners. They will reliably bloom in warm temperatures unless night temperatures stay in the upper 70s or above. The low-maintenance plant does not require deadheading, but does need good drainage. It grows 6 to 8 in. tall in a mounded habit. Lucia is hardy to 35°F. It is an annual, except in zones 9-11.
