Deciduous
American Beech Tree
14 Oct, 2011 Livescapes
American beech trees (Fagus grandiflora) are known for their striking silvery-gray bark, but they also put on a colorful fall foliage display with golden-bronze leaves. The leaves stay through the winter after turning tan. Beech trees produce edible beechnuts, which can attract deer, squirrels and birds. They can reach heights of 80 ft., so are not suited to small landscapes. They are hardy in ones 3-9.
