Ornamental: Mint Julep Juniper
15 Dec, 2009 By: Landscape Management Staff Get Growing
Juniperus chinensis Monlep is an evergreen that displays its green foliage on an arching form in shrub borders, mass plantings and containers. The conifer is cold hardy in zones 3 to 9 and needs full sun. It has a compact growth habit, reaching 4 to 6 ft. tall and 6 to 8 ft. wide. Mint Julep Juniper can be used as in the landscape as a border, topiary or windbreak, and its roots provide erosion control. Once established, it requires minimal watering. It should be fed with a general purpose fertilizer before new growth begins in spring and then pruned in the summer.
