Ornamental Grass‘Blonde Ambition’ (Bouteloua gracilis PPAF) is a reward-winning native grass with a revamped sideways flower. Its showy chartreuse flowers are held horizontally above the leaves. It has 2 1/2 to 3 ft. tall stems of flowers that mature to blonde seed heads. These flag-like flowers rise up out of the blue-green foliage in mid-summer. It is a low-water, native ornamental that has a large native range. Introduced by High Country Gardens’ founder and chief horticulturist, David Salman, ‘Blonde Ambition’ is native to 26 states and is expected to perform particularly well in hardiness zones 4-9.
