Nellie R. Stevens Holly
16 Jun, 2011 Get Growing
Nellie R. Stevens Holly is a hybrid between Ilex aquifolium and Ilex cornuta. It has dark-green leaves and red fruit. This fast- growing evergreen can reach 20 to 30 feet high and 10 to 12 ft. wide. It is hardy in zones 6-9. Lines of Nellie R. Stevens Holly are often used as buffers or screens because they maintain a uniform, dense pyramidal shape without pruning. The fruit is not known to attract animals or cause litter problems. It can be grown in full sun or partial shade on well-drained, slightly acid soil.
