SHADE offers strong educational program

GLENDALE, AZ — The Southwest Horticulture Annual Day of Education (SHADE) is set for Aug. 12 at The Renaissance Glendale here, next to the Cardinal’s Stadium.
Educational sessions being offered include:
— Trending, featuring Functional Landscapes and Gardens presented by Eric and Vanessa Mytko and Selling in Tough Times with John Binkele, Ewing Irrigation
— Design, which will include Sustainable Landscape Management with Janet Waibe and Designing Landscapes to Attract Wildlife by Carol Schuler
— Trees & Plants, featuring Up and Coming Trends in Plant Material with Janet Rademacher, Mountain States Wholesale Nursery and Desert Appropriate Edibles by Scott Calhoun, Zona Gardens
— Pest Management & Plant Health, which will include Turf Disease & Maintenance Issues with Dr. Dave Kopec, U of AZ Tucson Extension and
Controlling Critters in the Landscape with Peter Warren, U of A Tucson Extension
— Irrigation, featuring Smart Irrigation Technology with Jeffery Knight, Ewing Irrigation and Irrigation Basics with Rick Templeton, City of Phoenix.
Continuing Education Units (CEUs) have been applied for from ADA, ASLA, GCSAA, IA, ISA, APLD and OPM. A complete list of session descriptions and presenters is available on the Arizona Nursery Association’s website, www.azna.org.
The cost for early registration (by July 31) is $95 per person and includes lunch and morning and afternoon refreshments.
