YardApes to host golf event in July
13 May, 2010 LM Direct!NEW MILFORD, CT. — YardApes, Inc. will host its Fifth Annual Bob Rasor Memorial Golf Classic on Monday, July 26, 2010 at Bulls Bridge Golf Course in South Kent, CT.
Proceeds from the tournament benefit The YardApes Charity Fund. Since its inception, the tournament has raised $32,500 for the fund that supports New Milford area youth in both academic and athletic endeavors.
“There’s no better way to build character and esteem in kids than through academic and athletic programs and the mentoring inherent in each,” said Shayne Newman, founder of YardApes, Inc.
MVP-SOS, the volunteer non-profit organization with which Newman has partnered, received all proceeds from The YardApes Charity Fund, enabling the organization to play an integral part in meeting the fundraising goals for the new creative playground at John Pettibone School in New Milford.
“It’s satisfying to see the new playground, and to know we had a hand in that," says Newman. "The playground is something that everyone can enjoy, and it certainly promotes family time, physical activity, and of course, enjoyment of the outdoors.”
Participation in this year’s tournament, whether through donation for raffle prizes, silent and live auction, or sponsorship is critical its success.
“We hope to hear from previous sponsors — friends of the tournament — and look forward to welcoming new sponsors as well,” said Newman.
Player registration deadline is June 30, 2010. Registration forms can be downloaded from www.yardapes.org. Space is limited to 120 players. A tour of the course as well as sponsor information is available through the site’s tournament link.
