APLD-website-logoThe Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD) named the winners of the 2016 Design Awards, the association’s annual landscape design competition.

Landscape designers from Lansdale, Pa., Newport, R.I., Stoneham, Mass., and Ann Arbor, Mich., snagged eight Gold Awards in the
national contest. The association also named silver and bronze awards.

Looking at before and after photographs and project summaries, a panel of judges anonymously reviewed the projects. The Gold Award winners are:

  • Matthew Cunningham of Matthew Cunningham Landscape Design, Stoneham, Mass., took home two Gold awards for a residential project in Cambridge, Mass., and a small gardens project in Boston.
  • Katherine Field of Katherine Field and Associates, Newport, R.I., won Gold for a residential project in Jamestown, R.I.
  • Charles Hess, of Hess Landscape Architects, Lansdale, Pa., won Gold three times for two residential projects in Bryn Mawr, Pa., and a “Farm to Forest” Specialty project in Philadelphia.
  • Zaremba & Company from Ann Arbor, Mich., won Gold twice for two residential projects located in Plymouth and Bloomfield Hills, Mich.

The winners will receive their awards at the APLD annual conference in Santa Fe, N.M., later this year. The competition drew nearly 50 entries from landscape designers from across the country, as well as some international entries.
