Bartlett Tree Experts has completed eight acquisitions in the last six months and now has more than 140 locations worldwide including new offices in Alberta, Canada; the greater Denver area; Northampton, Mass.; and Santa Monica, Calif. Terms of the transactions were not disclosed.

“Growth through acquisition has been a strong path forward for us and enabled us to enter and become established in a number of new geographic regions over the years — the Pacific Northwest and south Florida are two recent examples,” said Jim Ingram, president and COO of Bartlett Tree Experts. “This method has been so successful because we work hard to ensure the companies we acquire are a good fit in terms of scientific approach to tree care, safety culture and customer service.”

The recent acquisitions have spanned North America. Four of the eight acquisitions allow the company to enter markets it had not previously served.

Bartlett has been providing service in Canada since 1977, expanding from one office to eight over the past 22 years. Tree Frog Tree Care in Alberta became the eighth acquisition of 2018.

The company is now serving the greater Denver area after acquiring Colorado Treescapes in Littleton, Colo. From there, the company is looking to expand in the Rocky Mountain region.

Bartlett’s acquisition of C.L. Frank and Co. in Northampton, Mass., is the company’s first acquisition in western Massachusetts. Both companies played a role in establishing the International Shade Tree Conference, the predecessor of the International Society of Arboriculture, Bartlett said. With the acquisition of Mellinger Tree Service in Santa Monica, the company now has eight locations in California.

The remaining four acquisitions bolster the company’s customer base in existing operating areas. These include Clean Cutt Tree Service in Wilmington, Del.; Pavey Tree in Dwight, Ontario, Canada; Weise Choice Tree Services in western Connecticut; and Connecticut Arborists in Monroe, Conn.
