The details: The clients wanted to incorporate a pool, spa and entertainment space for their waterfront home. The goal was privacy—a difficult task with neighbors and a driveway in close proximity. Working within the confines of the protective Chesapeake Bay regulations added complexities, as did a Memorial Day deadline. The crews worked all winter, using heated tents on the harshest days.
Forty feet above the bay, the site lent itself to an infinity pool. It was elevated 24 in., creating two levels to the otherwise flat space and adding visual interest and seating. In regulatory compliance, the pool was 100 ft. from the water’s edge.
A fireplace and Cryptomeria along the property line created privacy. A 4-ft. wall with columns, two custom mahogany gates and Natchez crape myrtles masked the close proximity to the driveway.
