Mower Man Lawn Service, located in Lakeside, Calif., was named a quarter-finalist for the 2014 Independent We Stand Independent Small Business of the Year Award.

Sponsored in part by Stihl, Chrysler Group and Devoe Paint, Independent We Stand gathers independent business owners nationwide to inform communities about the benefits of “buying local.”

The Indie Award garnered 302 nominees in 2014, and 12,000 votes were made to choose the quarter-finalists.

Voting for the finalist now is underway at IndieBizAward.com through Dec. 14. The winner will be named Dec. 17, at which time they will receive prizes with a combined value of more than $10,000, including:

• $5,000 grand prize;
• $1,000 Stihl equipment certificate;
• a “Small Business Web Starter Package” from Launch Interactive, containing a custom website layout design and programming with a location page with Google map integration and web traffic reporting; and
• a three day/two night stay at an independent resort hotel in Virginia Beach, Va., that includes a tour of the Stihl headquarters and dinner with the Independent We Stand team.
