Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp named Briggs & Stratton Corp. the winner of the 2019 Manufacturer of the Year award in the category of medium manufacturer with 151 to 500 employees.

Briggs & Stratton earned the honor based on a range of criteria, including its economic impact, community involvement and corporate responsibility and commitment to workforce development and excellence.

The company has operated in the Statesboro, Ga. community since 1995 and employs approximately 430 people at its facility there.

Hunter Industries received a 2019 Excellence in Energy Leadership Award at the 14th annual San Diego Gas & Electric Energy Showcase for its energy efficiency and conservation efforts.

According to the company, its goal is to create a culture of sustainability within the industry.

Joseph C. Finnerty, CPA, a former Big Four accounting firm director, has founded CenterSquare Advisory to bring his experience to small- and medium-sized businesses and lower middle-market companies.

Based in Philadelphia, CenterSquare Advisory offers financial due diligence, post-deal advisory and reporting, mergers and acquisition intermediary, data analysis and interim management and project support to private equity firms, corporations and family offices.

Most recently, Finnerty was a director in PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Deals Practice. He has advised on more than 75 merger and acquisition transactions in various industries, including consumer products, manufacturing and distribution, with distinct experience in business-to-business and business-to-consumer services.

In his previous role, Finnerty primarily represented large corporations and private equity firms that were evaluating buying smaller companies. He noticed the smaller businesses were often underrepresented from a finance and accounting perspective.

“That is exactly why I founded CenterSquare Advisory: to assist investors and owners of smaller enterprises and lower middle-market companies in maximizing value in their businesses and the strategies they pursue,” Finnerty said. “I am confident in saying the years of experience, knowledge and capabilities CenterSquare Advisory brings to the table at such a competitive rate are bound to give our clients an excellent return on their investment in our services.”

Kubota Tractor Corp./Kubota Canada Ltd. and Titan International announced an exclusivity agreement for Goodyear R14 crossover tires on select Kubota compact tractor models.

Prior to the agreement, Kubota conducted significant testing on the Goodyear R14 tire — which features a hybrid tread design combining elements of an ag tread (R-1), turf tread (R-3) and industrial tread (R-4). The results from slip and vibration testing showed the R14 tire as being the ideal fit between an R-1 and R-4, according to Kubota.

“The vast majority of compact tractors on the market are being sold with R-4 tires, but there’s a drawback when it comes to traction. If you go with an R-1, then you have more traction, but more vibration on hard surfaces,” said Jacob Sherman, Kubota product manager, compact tractors. “After testing the R14, we knew it could perform equally as well in the variety of snow, field, yard, loader and pasture applications our customers expect from our machines. That’s why we wanted to jump on this opportunity. We believe the Goodyear R14 is a game changer for our dealers and customers.”

Stepstone, a stone and concrete manufacturer, was voted “Best of Houzz.” This marks the third year in a row that the company received such recognition.
