Companies in the News: NaturaLawn opens scholarship applications, Bobcat expands and more

NaturaLawn of America has announced that The Dan Collins Scholarship Award is accepting applications for the 2022 school year.

The Dan Collins Scholarship Award was established in memory of Dan Collins, a franchise owner who passed away from cancer in 2005. Dan was a “larger than life” gentleman who always had a funny story to share, an encouraging word for his fellow owners and a big heart for giving his best to help others.

The scholarship is an essay contest awarding three one-time stipends to the winning students for their college education. The first-place winner will receive $4,000; second place will receive $2,000, and third place will receive $1,000.

To enter, students should submit two essays and proof of enrollment in a high school or college. Application submissions (including all essays, letters of recommendation, transcripts, etc.) should be postmarked no later than May 1.

In addition to the completed application and a possible interview with NaturaLawn of America management, the following criteria will be considered during the decision process:

  • Submission of a transcript showing a high school or current College/ GPA level of at least 2.5.
  • A one-page essay explaining why you should receive the award.
  • A one-page essay recounting how you may use your degree and knowledge gained from your education.
  • Up to three letters of recommendation.
  • Preference may be given to NaturaLawn employees’ children.
  • Preference may be given to students enrolled in or with experience in turfgrass management.

Bobcat expands aftermarket distribution network

Bobcat announced plans to, joining its existing Bobcat Parts Distribution Center in Woodridge, Ill., are new facilities in Atlanta and Reno, Nev.

“This investment demonstrates our commitment to our dealers and customers, as well as Bobcat’s leadership in the industry,” said Mike Ballweber, president of Bobcat. “This expansion will help ensure faster response and delivery times to all North American customers by bringing parts closer to end-users and where they do business.”

The facilities will roughly double the company’s existing warehouse footprint by adding approximately 445,000 square feet of additional distribution and storage space.

The new facilities are anticipated to become operational by the fourth quarter of 2022, and all facilities will be managed by APL Logistics. Additional facility details are forthcoming.

Vectorworks to host virtual open house

Vectorworks will open its doors (virtually) on April 13. The event will allow users in the architecture, landscape architecture and entertainment design industries to connect face-to-face with the Vectorworks team. This free event will also allow designers to ask questions and learn more about Vectorworks’ latest features, updates and design topic areas directly from the minds behind the software.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST. Attendees can expect to discuss various topics, including:

  • Software for education
  • Architecture, interiors and BIM
  • Cloud and mobile
  • Entertainment
  • Landscape, BIM and GIS
  • Vectorworks product roadmap
  • Rendering
  • Vectorworks University and certifications
  • 3D modeling

Takeuchi dealer opens new location

Global Machinery will now offer Takeuchi equipment from its newest in Phoenix, Ariz. This location joins Global Machinery’s Sacramento, Calif. and Boise, Idaho, selling and supporting Takeuchi’s compact equipment, including excavators, track loaders, and wheel loaders.

Global Machinery specializes in providing equipment solutions for various segments of the construction industry.

“Takeuchi will be our primary product line at this new location,” said Jeff Brown, president of Global Machinery. “We’ve had great success offering Takeuchi at our other locations, and we’ve seen the difference that Takeuchi equipment can make for our customers. We’re looking forward to introducing more heavy equipment owners and operators in Southern Arizona to Takeuchi in the months and years ahead.”

Hyundai Construction Equipment announces new dealership agreement

Hyundai Construction Equipment announced a dealership agreement with West River Equipment, Mandan, N.D., under which West River Equipment will sell and service Hyundai wheel loaders and excavators throughout central and western North Dakota.

“Hyundai is happy to welcome West River Equipment to our growing family of North American dealerships,” said Ed Harseim, North Central sales manager, Hyundai Construction Equipment. “Its opportunities for growth in the construction, agriculture and energy markets are a great match for the equipment solutions that Hyundai offers.”
