GROW Organization, a public charity in Silicon Valley, will fund a $1,500 JobTrain internship in honor of John Gachina, the founder of Gachina Landscape Management, according to the Mercury News. Gachina died in December. The new GROW internship program will provide one qualified JobTrain applicant the opportunity to work 100 hours in a designated field. To honor John Gachina’s memory, his family asked that contributions be made to JobTrain and the California Landscape Contractors Association’s LEAF scholarship program, in lieu of flowers. More than $21,500 in donations were received, with $11,500 going to JobTrain.

Central Turf & Irrigation Supply, a North American wholesale distributor of irrigation, landscape, lighting and equipment supplies, opened a new store in Canada. Located at 272 Bradwick Drive, Concord, Ontario, the store serves professional landscape, lawn care and irrigation contractors. Eric Pagva is the store manager.

Ruppert Landscape opened a new office for its Washington, D.C., landscape management branch. The new branch office will be located at 8800 Brookville Rd. in Silver Spring, Md. Since the branch opened in March 2015, it has been operating out of the Forestville, Md., office.

Green Lawn Fertilizing & Green Pest Solutions opened its third service branch, in North Wales, Pa. The new branch, located at 177 Wissahickon Ave., was added due to the company’s growing customer base, the company said. The new facility is a place for Green Lawn Fertilizing technicians and Green Pest Solution technicians servicing the Montgomery County, Pa., area to get their supplies and equipment and convene for training and other meetings. The company hopes this new branch will help cut down on technician’s drive times and allow for faster scheduling of customer’s lawn and pest control services. This is the first new branch the company opened since launching its New Jersey branch in 2010. Green Lawn Fertilizing hopes to add at least two more branches in the next few years.
