The Davey Tree Expert Co., based in Kent, Ohio, named Geoff Cowan market manager of the company’s Chicago-based residential and commercial operations. In his new position, Cowan will assist in the implementation of sales, safety and client goals and objectives.

Cowan joined Davey in 1983 as a tree care trainee and has served as the district manager of the South Chicago office since 1996. While at the Chicago office, Cowan was involved in the management and early implementation of the Asian Longhorned Beetle initiative for the Chicago area.

“Geoff has a wealth of experience in the Chicago area and within residential and commercial operations as a whole,” said Jim Stief, executive vice president of operations. “His experience and dedication will be a valuable asset in the growth and improvement of Davey’s Chicago residential and commercial operations.”

Cowan was a recipient of the Outstanding Manager Award presented at Davey’s 2004, 2007 and 2013 National Managers’ Meeting and is a past member of Davey’s President’s Council. Also certified as an arborist through the International Society of Arboriculture, Cowan is a graduate of the Davey Institute of Tree Sciences.
