Exmark Quest ZRT riding mower

Exmark recalled its Quest ZRT riding mowers due to loss of steering control and crash hazards.

Consumers should stop using the product unless otherwise instructed, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). It’s illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

About 5,300 mowers in the U.S. and 40 in Canada have been recalled. About 2,200 Quest 2009 and 2010 ZRT riding mowers were previously recalled in May 2012 for a different crash hazard.

This recall involves 2009 and 2010 model year Exmark Quest ZRT mid-mount red and gray riding mowers. “Exmark” is printed on the side of the mowers, while “Quest” is printed on the front. The model and serial numbers are affixed on a metal plate behind the seat on the left hand side.

The following models and serial number ranges are included in the recall:

Model number Serial number range Size of mowing deck
QST20BE422 814303 through 891973 42 inches
QST22BE482 803664 through 895485 48 inches
QST24BE522 810131 through 887319 52 inches

There have been nine incidents with the riding mowers, including one back injury, according to the CPSC. Consumers are directed by the CPSC to stop using the recalled mowers immediately and contact Exmark for a free repair.
