I was proud to join the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) in honoring the winners of its Community Stewardship Award earlier this week in Washington D.C. at the banquet held in conjunction with the Renewal & Remembrance and Legislative Day on the Hill event.
You may recall some of these names from the pages of LM. We profiled them in print January through June in our Giving Back department. If you’re looking for some good news or to get ideas for your own community service efforts, certainly take some time to read the stories.
Here are the winners (in each case flanked by PLANET President Glenn Jacobsen and me):

State chapter category winner: Associated Landscape Contractors of Colorado, accepted by ALCC President Mark Pribramsky, owner of Earthscapes

Student chapter winner: Columbus State Community College, accepted by faculty member Dick Ansley and alumna Elaine Euwer

Large green industry service provider winner: Acres Group of Wauconda, Ill., accepted by Illinois Landscape Contractors Association Executive Director Scott Grams

Medium green industry service provider winners (tie): Southeastern Landscape Management, Panama City, Fla., accepted by Vice President Katy Harrell; Drake’s 7 Dees, Portland, Ore. (not pictured)

Small green industry service provider winner: Utopian Landscapes in Harrisburg, Pa., accepted by President Nikos Phelps
