Morbark’s ChipSafe Operator Safety Shield is now available for the company’s smaller wood chippers.

Mobark’s ChipSafe Operator Safety Shield is now available for use on the company’s M6R 6-in Beever Brush Chippers and M8D 8-in. Beever Brush Chippers. The safety shield can now be used on company’s 6- to 18-in. wood chippers.

The ChipSafe Operator Safety Shield is a device that stops a wood chipper when an operator’s limbs reach too far into the infeed chute. Plates mount directly inside the infeed chute of the chipper, and the user must wear gloves or ankle straps that work in conjunction with the plates. When the individual’s arms or feet reaches the plates, or the ChipSafe sensing zone, the chipper automatically shuts down. The chipper can then be restarted by swiping the gloves or wrist straps over the reset box on the outside of the chute.

The ChipSafe Operator Safety Shield has won a number of awards, including the American Public Works Association Best New Product of 2014, the Arbor Age A+ New Product Award and the Rental Equipment Register Innovative Product Award.
