The National Hispanic Landscape Alliance has selected its new board of directors for the 2013-2014 term.

The board has been chosen to represent different backgrounds and origins of Hispanics in the landscape industry. The team includes:

  • President Raul Berrios, president of Rulyscapes. Inc, Centreville, Va.
  • President-Elect Juan Torres, vice president of Operations for Total Tree Care, Cheschire, Conn.
  • Secretary Pam Berrios, president of Alexandria Lawn Service, Alexandria, Va.
  • Treasurer Veronica de Hoyos, director of operations and human resources, Lawn Management Company, Houston, Texas
  • Past-President Jesus “Chuy” Medrano, owner of CoCal Landscape, Denver, Colo.

Directors that will join the board later in the year include:

  • Arnulfo Lopez of Nature Safe Landcare, Gresham, Ore.
  • Jose Cantu of Saw House Inc. Houston, Texas

“I am beyond humbled to serve as president of the NHLA,” said Berrios. “The organization has served as an important asset to me as a small businessman, exposing me to industry best practices, allowing me to plug into a national network of peers, greatly strengthening my relationships with top manufacturers and providing me the opportunity to engage influential leaders in government and beyond. We’ve been able to do so much during our first two years together and there’s great enthusiasm for doing even more during the next two years as we continue to grow. I’m especially looking forward to our offering much needed workforce development programs.”
