NJGIC hosts 2014 Pollinator Summit Nov. 11

|

The New Jersey Green Industry Council (NJGIC) is heading up its 2014 Pollinator Summit Nov. 11 at the National Conference Center in East Windsor, N.J.

“There is a great deal of misinformation out there on the neonic issue and public ignorance, and the resulting pressure on retailers might result in the loss of this class of chemistry for our entire industry,” said Jim Jensen, president of NJGIC and
formulator business manager
for Nufarm Americas. “I have worked to ensure that this program is not just another recertification meeting where you hear a bunch of product advertisements and the same old information over and over again.  We’ve put together presentations on what we think are the critical ‘must have’ pieces of information.”

To that end, pesticide credits from the event are approved for New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Delaware.

Presentations will hit on the topics of:

  • The role of pollinators on farms and in landscapes;
  • The threats facing pollinators and what you can do;
  • Latest research on pollinator protection;
  • The Operation Pollinator program;
  • Legislative impacts; and
  • Neonicotinoids.
