PBI-Gordon Corp. has eliminated the ambient temperature restrictions on the application of Avenue™ South Broadleaf Herbicide. The amended label lifts restrictions for applying Avenue South when ambient temperatures are above 90 degrees Fahrenheit (85 degrees Fahrenheit for St. Augustinegrass).

Avenue South is formulated for use on sensitive southern grasses, including common and improved St. Augustinegrasses such as Floratam and Bitterblue. It is a proprietary formulation of four active ingredients (penoxsulam, sulfentrazone, dicamba and 2,4-D), which delivers rapid control of more than 90 broadleaf weeds including doveweed, Virginia buttonweed, chamberbitter and dollarweed.

Avenue South is readily absorbed by roots, shoots, and foliage, and translocates rapidly throughout the plant. Broadleaf weeds exhibit leaf and stem curl or twisting, yellowing, and chlorosis. Visible response is typically seen within a few days of application, with weed death occurring between 14 and 28 days.

“Avenue South delivers fast visual response on broadleaf weeds, with an exceptional degree of turf safety,” said Jay Young, herbicide product manager for PBI-Gordon. “Eliminating the ambient temperature restrictions gives turf professionals more flexibility as to when they can apply the product.”

Avenue South is labeled for use on golf course fairways and roughs, residential sites, ornamental turf and commercial areas, sod farms, roadsides and other non-cropland sites. The revised product label can be viewed at:
