People on the Move: Tomac joins PBI-Gordon; Takeuchi names new national account sales representative and more from The Davey Tree Expert Co. and Profile Products

Steve Tomac has joined PBI-Gordon Corp. as channel marketing manager.

In his newly created role, Tomac will work with the company’s marketing and sales teams to maximize market opportunities at a customer level. The position is instrumental in implementing a new level of channel focus as PBI-Gordon executes its strategic growth initiatives, according to the company.

Tomac brings 21 years of industry and marketing experience to PBI-Gordon. Prior to joining the company, he was with John Deere, where he worked in various marketing and development positions. A Michigan native, Tomac holds a Master of Business Administration in finance from Indiana University, a Master of Science in agricultural economics from Purdue University and Bachelor of Science degrees in both agribusiness management and ag and natural resources communications from Michigan State University. He is active in the National Agri-Marketing Association, serving as a foundation board member and past chapter president.

Takeuchi-US announced Austin Smith as national account sales representative, effective immediately.

Smith’s main responsibilities include sales and support of national account customers across the U.S. and Canada.

Smith has a decade of experience with compact equipment in the landscape industry. Most recently, he worked as the sports turf manager at Precision Turf, where he had been since 2014. In his previous role, he managed more than 60 acres of athletic fields in the metro Atlanta area. Additionally, Smith established and maintained relationships with clients, wrote proposals and pitched services to current and prospective clients.

“Coming in with a great deal of in-the-field experience and knowing and operating compact equipment firsthand made it an easy choice to bring Austin on board,” said Scott Place, director of national accounts. “Austin is a go-getter and very knowledgeable, which will be a perfect fit to call on our national account customers. We are excited to welcome him to our team.”

Sean Zieche has been promoted to district manager of The Davey Tree Expert Co.’s Glen Ellyn residential/commercial (R/C) office.

Zieche began his career with Davey in 2009 as a groundman and climber. He quickly earned several promotions, including to foreman, production foreman and mostly recently assistant district manager in the Glen Ellyn, Ill., office. He is a 2015 graduate of the Davey Institute of Tree Sciences.

Zieche is an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist and an  ISA Certified Tree Worker Climber Specialist. He is an ISA tree climbing competition judge, holds an Illinois pesticide license and is a member of the Illinois Arborist Association, the Chicago Region Tree Initiative and Tree Care Industry Association.

Adam Dibble has been promoted to director of marketing of Profile Products.

Dibble will lead Profile’s strategic marketing and serve as a resource for all of Profile’s business units including Erosion and Vegetative Solutions (EVS), sports fields, golf, landscape and horticulture. He will also remain the brand manager for EVS.

With nearly 10 years of erosion control and marketing experience, Dibble has played an integral role in raising awareness of environmentally friendly practices. Through his leadership skills, Dibble has also educated the erosion control industry on best management practices and technological advancements.

Dibble is a member of the Erosion Control Technology Council, Sports Turf Managers Association and the American Marketing Association. He has been active with the Save Our International Soil committee for many years. He has been recognized as a Storm Water Solutions Rising Star (2016), an IECA Outstanding Professional (2017) and earned the 2018 Sigma Pi Fraternity Young Professional Achievement Award. Dibble has also published numerous articles for the erosion control industry and has a Dale Carnegie certification. He received a bachelor’s degree in business and marketing from Ferris State University.
