Toro joins Project EverGreen’s GreenCare for Troops program
In its 7th year, Project EverGreen’s GreenCare for Troops (GCFT) program continues to provide free lawn and landscaping services to help families of active-duty military members serving away from home—and now with additional support from The Toro Foundation in the form of a $10,000 donation.
“Service members whose families have benefited from this program will tell you, GreenCare for Troops fulfills a great purpose in supporting military families, and we are proud to be part of that effort,” said Judson McNeil, president of The Toro Foundation. “Our troops are putting their lives on the line for this country, but their thoughts are undoubtedly back home with their families and their well-being. The GreenCare for Troops program helps ease those concerns.”
The GCFT campaign serves about 14,500 families and has 4,430 volunteers enrolled to participate in the program. Project EverGreen matches registered military families with local volunteers to provide landscaping services.
“We’re very grateful for the extraordinary volunteer efforts of professional landscapers and their contributions to military families,” said Cindy Code, Project EverGreen executive director. “Having The Toro Foundation join our team will help us grow the program to serve additional families and bring in new volunteers. For some, it may be easy to tackle all of the everyday things like mowing a lawn, but when these tasks and other household chores fall to the family members left behind during a deployment, the added stress takes a toll. Through GreenCare for Troops and our dedicated volunteer network, that’s one small burden lifted from their shoulders.”
