Web Extra: Sun Valley’s marketing play

|

The motto–and marketing message–at Sun Valley Landscaping, featured in the July 2015 LM cover story, is “Landscapes for Life.”

Sun Valley Landscaping seeks to create an “in your own backyard” feel at the ballpark with its minor league baseball sponsorship.

The company has parlayed that maxim into a partnership with the Omaha Storm Chasers, the Kansas City Royals AAA affiliate, which plays at 4-year-old Werner Park.

For the last three seasons, Sun Valley has sponsored the team’s pregame show and has done a “Landscapes for Life” giveaway for each home stand, where fans win landscape supplies and services.

The company signed a five-year contract with the team earlier this year, co-owner Paul Fraynd says. With that, Sun Valley staff brainstormed a way to make a bigger splash than before.

“We thought it would be cool to create a home for the pregame show,” he says. The result is a patio that acts as a stage for the pregame show and is available for private events. “We wanted to sell the experience of being at a professional baseball game but with the fell of being in your own backyard.”
