JCB is expanding its compact equipment lineup with the introduction of the new 250 and 290 skid-steer loaders. Manufactured in Savannah, Ga., the new models are designed to meet the demands of everyday material handling.
Powered by a 74-horsepower engine, the 250 and 290 are engineered to support a wide range of attachments and tackle daily jobs across the jobsite. From loading trucks and moving pallets to grading, site cleanup and material handling, the new machines are built for year-round productivity. They also bring JCB‘s industry-exclusive single-arm boom design to this popular size class, pairing enhanced visibility with convenient side-door entry.
“North American contractors continue to face labor shortages, making every employee and every piece of equipment more important than ever,” said Lee Tice, senior product manager of compact equipment, JCB North America. “The new 250 and 290 skid-steer loaders are designed to help a single operator accomplish more throughout the day. Our industry-exclusive side-door entry eliminates the need to climb over buckets, pallet forks and other attachments every time operators enter or exit the machine. It’s a smarter design that improves productivity, enhances safety and helps operators keep work moving.”
Positioned in a new mid-size weight class for JCB, the machines offer an ideal balance of lifting performance, maneuverability and versatility, according to the company. The 250 and 290 offer rated operating capacities of approximately 2,531 and 3,029 pounds, respectively, with hinge pin heights reaching more than 10 feet. That combination provides the reach and lifting capability needed for loading trucks, handling palletized materials, moving bulk aggregates and placing jobsite supplies. High-flow hydraulic options and compatibility with a broad range of skid-steer attachments allow operators to tackle virtually any material handling task with a single machine.
Despite their capability, both models maintain a compact footprint and improved maneuverability. Operators can work efficiently around residential jobsites, commercial developments, landscape projects and other confined work areas where larger equipment may not fit. Whether loading trucks, moving materials or supporting site preparation, the new machines are engineered to maximize productivity throughout the workday, according to JCB.
The new 250 and 290 skid-steer loaders reflect JCB’s continued investment in equipment engineered for the needs of North American contractors.
