Classic Groundcovers, based in Athens, Ga., is celebrating 50 years in business this year. The business started out with founder Wilbur Mull sticking cuttings in backyards for 75 cents per hour. Classic Groundcovers offers over 120 different varieties of plants, its trade shows have won multiple awards and Mull remains a strong supporter of The Georgia Green Industry Association.

Mull says the credit for the success of his business goes to his people. His goal has been to make his employees feel appreciated, which includes paying a competitive wage, providing a friendly environment and making their family feel welcomed.

Mull has been married to his wife, Susan, for 34 years. The couple has two children. Casey, 29, who works for as a youth development specialist for the U.S. Air force and Georgia 4-H. Shellie, 26, who is a nurse at The Urology Clinic in Athens.
