CHICAGO—As reported by the Pennsylvania Landscape & Nursery Association (PLNA), Joe Khayyat, executive director of the Mid America Horticultural Trade Show (MidAm), has confirmed that the show’s board of directors has decided not to host the show in 2014.

MidAm had run for 35 years and was the joint creation of the Illinois Green Industry Association (IGIA), the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association (ILCA) and the Wisconsin Green Industry Federation (WGIF).

In a letter to the show’s exhibitors, the MidAm board said they reached the decision after reviewing the show’s structure, attendee needs and association resources. The letter provided no other reasons for the decision.

The letter went on to say that each organization would be pursuing opportunities for exhibitors to showcase their products in new and innovative ways, and would be in touch with additional details.

The show had been losing both exhibitors and attendees over the past several years. This year’s MidAm had 215 exhibitors.

Khayyat said the association partners in the show had not made any decisions about the future at this point.
