Michigan State University took first place overall at the 40th annual National Collegiate Landscape Competition.

The National Collegiate Landscape Competition (NCLC), hosted by the National Association of Landscape Professionals, is headed to Cougar country in 2017.

The event that showcases the top of the crop of future landscapers and irrigation specialists will be held March 15-18 at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. The event also features a career fair, which gives students a chance to interview with landscape, lawn care, tree care, irrigation and other related companies, held on March 16.

“We encourage all industry companies who are looking for new talent to participate in the career fair and watch the students compete in the events,” said Sabeena Hickman, NALP CEO. “This is the biggest career event in the industry and it is amazing to have the support of so many companies and industry suppliers.”

This year, nearly 800 horticulture and landscape students from about 60 schools will test their skills in 28 competitive events, like Hardscape Installation, Irrigation Troubleshooting, Small Engine Repair and much more.
