Davey acquires assets of Total Tree Care in Connecticut

daveyTreeThe Care of Trees, a subsidiary of The Davey Tree Expert Co., acquired certain assets of Total Tree Care, a tree care company serving residential clients in Connecticut. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, and the company declined to specify what the acquired assets are.

Total Tree Care is a 60-year-old company founded by Tom and Harianne Williams and owned by their son, Luke Williams.

“Like Total Tree Care, The Care of Trees is a client-focused company,” Williams said. “We are excited to become a part of The Care of Trees because, like us, they focus on improving a tree’s overall health.”

Ken Clear, regional vice president for Davey and The Care of Trees, said Total Tree Care clients and employees will benefit from the move. Clients will gain access to the Davey Institute, the company’s diagnostic and research facility, as well as the company’s technology, diverse service offerings, equipment resources, and results of its research and development wing. According to Clear, employees will will benefit from the Davey Co.’s employee-ownership culture.

Six employees from Total Tree Care will join The Care of Trees. They will join the Hamden, Conn., office, where Peter Tyrell serves as manager. Tyrell has more than 20 years of service with The Care of Trees and is a certified arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture. 

The Davey Tree Expert Co., based in Kent, Ohio, ranked No. 3 on the LM150 list of top revenue-generating firms with $789,000,000 in 2014 revenue.
